I believe this is the 3rd Thursday that we have had to cancel dance class due to bad weather. Two of them being the past 2 weeks in a row...in APRIL! UGH! Like everyone else, I just wish Spring would arrive!
We will be rescheduling the missed classes on a Saturday. We only have approx. 5 weeks left before the big performance so we will be crunched for time but extra practice will surely be needed.
Lets hope that this is it for cancellations for this dance season at least.

Lets Dance! x2
Assisted Living Performances – First 2 Saturdays in May
2 different dates have been set! Our enrollment has grown so much in the past year that we now have too many classes to all attend just one Assisted Living performance on the same day. We have separated the classes out and ½ will perform on May 4th and the other ½ will perform on May 11th. In addition to that we do have some groups dancing at both. 5th & 6th grade, Middle School, High School and Youth Modern dancers will be showing off their talents at both performances.
Please check your handouts, which can also be found on our website on the Parent Corner for which date your dancer performs.
Unlike past performances, we will be having the dancers wear both sets of dance shoes. We will have a show order that allows them to sit back down and helpers will assist them in changing their shoes. This way, they can practice the tap dance while actually wearing tap shoes. The dance costume, correct colored tights and proper hair bow, barrette or accessory must be worn by your dancer.
Once your dancer has performed both sets of dance routines, you are welcome to leave or stay and watch the remaining performances.
We have chosen a different venue as well this time. We are looking forward to dancing at Old Main Village Senior Living Facility. www.oldmainvillage.com Old Main Village has a much larger space to offer us than what we have used in the past. They are excited for all of us to come and we can’t wait to be there. For more information, please see our website. www.impulsedancemankato.com
If parents have any questions, please talk to Lori or Whitney.
Say Cheese!
Picture Day has been set for Saturday Afternoon on April 27th from 1:00-3:30.
Detailed handouts that state what time each class has their picture taken was sent home with dancers in March and is also listed on our website. We anticipate that each class will take approximately 15 minutes to take both the group shot and individual shot. We also ask that everyone show up 15 minutes prior to the designated picture time. This is partially because we may run ahead of schedule and also so that we can take attendance and make sure all are in attendance prior to “picture time”.
Costume details have or will be sent out this week with the actual costume that will be handed out this week and next. This detailed note tells you what color tights to buy for your dancer and also includes what to do with the extra accessories that come with the costume. For ex. Some costumes include a bow, barrette or hair binding. Please have your dancer dressed in costume, tights and provided hair accessory for picture day.
Shoes … The handout stating when picture day takes place, also states which pair of dance shoes your dancer will need to wear for pictures. We do recommend you bring both sets of shoes with you in case of shoe emergencies. When the group shot is taken of the entire dance class, it looks best when all have the same color and type of shoes on.
Hair and makeup is left up to each parent’s discretion. All that we ask is that it stays out of the dancers face and eyes and the given bow or barrette or hair binding is used when applicable.
Many classes use props in their dance routines and may want to have them be a part of the individual photo shot. These props will be available per class, for example Monday Kindergarten will be able to use the black sparkle fedora hats or Tuesday Kindergarten can hold the white umbrella’s if they would like. Miss Whitney will be available to help the dancers with a super cute pose with or without a prop.
For smooth sailing operations, to stay on our tight fitting schedule and prevent excited or nervous dancers, we ask that parents wait in the hallway. We have hired the same photographer "Oldenburg Photography” www.oldenburgphotography.com as last year and we feel that he does a superb job with the dancers. In addition, Miss Whitney has a background in photography and will be assisting Mike and the dancers by putting her wonderful talents to work.
Picture day will be held at our studio location within Holy Rosary Parish. The cafeteria will be unavailable to us that afternoon but a conference room just down the hall will be available.
Order forms from Mike Oldenburg Photography will be provided mid-April via a class handout. Purchasing pictures is optional, the order form allows you to pick and choose what you want and how much you want or not to spend. Even if you don’t want to purchase any pictures, we would appreciate the entire class to participate in the group shot. These memories are held dearly for years to come by Miss Lori and Miss Whitney and the other dancers in your class, we don’t want to miss anybody.
If parents have any questions, please contact Lori or Whitney.

Costume Time!
With the Winter Informal behind us, Christmas break over and open enrollment closing at the end of January puts us in full costume mode!! Spring Recital is just around the corner, well okay not until May but Costumes have been selected and the planning has begun!
Lots of time and thought goes into picking out all those costumes. We want to make sure they fit the song types we have chosen but also fit the personality's and are age appropriate for each of our dancers. It can be the best and the worst part about being a teacher. Year after year, I strive for perfection and for this years costumes to be even cutier than last years. When in all actuality, I have never not had a cute costume. How can a teeeny tiny tutu NOT be cute!!
This week all the dancers are returning to class along with many new dancers that recently enrolled. Its a big week for many reasons. We welcome the return of dancers, introduce newly enrolled, hear the song selections for the Spring Recital and and AND....the unvieling of THE COSTUME! The dancers go absolutely crazy when they see the pretty and sparkly and sequin filled princess dress that will soon be theirs! What's tough for us as teachers, is that these costumes will not actually arrive until AFTER Easter, mid April. So starting next week and going on and on, week after week, we will be asked "When do we get our costumes?" "Are they here yet?" WE have to be the bearer of bad news and remind them just how long before they are here. : (
Measurements have been taken of all our dancers, so when costumes arrive we can try them on during class time and make sure they all fit! Let's hope! After nearly 8 years of measuring and ordering costumes, unfortunately not everyone will fit perfectly.
On Costume day, Miss Lori and Miss Whitney always tell the dancers how important taking care of their very special costume is. No wearing it around the house or wearing it to dance class. You CAN wear it for Picture Day, Nursing Home Performances & the Spring Recital! After the recital, you can wear it as dress up all you like.
With costume selections out of the way, it is time to start planning for the Recital in May. Starting with making props! Yes we will be making more props for this show, no we haven't learned our lesson yet.
More details about the Spring Recital will be coming soon!!!!
